Scattered Ashes
Nuggets 114 - Jazz 105
I didn't believe he could jump that high. A few years ago, sure. Probably for most of his teens. But when I saw Carmelo make this play on Wednesday night, I was dumbfounded, shaken by something I wasn't prepared to fathom. Of course, I'm talking about the steal. Oh, the dunk was nice alright, but it was the absolute "touch the ceiling" vertical extension that Carmelo deployed which had me out of my seat before he left his feet. When I say "nice", perhaps I should be kinder. That dunk was an inferno of a summer's anticipation set fire by the beautiful reality of hitting the hardwood. When Melo hit the ground he screamed "I'm back" but it was the mysterious vision of his possible future, the incredible defensive play by a player renowned for his offensive arsenal, that remined us all why it is so easy to believe.
